11-year-old arrested for armed robbery and armed carjacking after four-hour manhunt near Hills of Santa Fe

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – King Isaiah Showers, 11, was arrested yesterday after a four-hour manhunt near the Hills of Santa Fe neighborhood and charged with armed carjacking and two counts of armed robbery.
At about 3:06 p.m. on March 25, Alachua County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to the Meadowbrook neighborhood, where the victim said Showers had pointed a gun at her and demanded her car keys. She said she recognized Showers from a previous interaction and that he left on foot after the carjacking attempt failed.
At about 4:07 p.m., deputies responded to a call about an armed robbery attempt in the Hills of Santa Fe neighborhood. The victims said the suspect pointed a gun at them and demanded their car; deputies reportedly saw the suspect fleeing on foot when they arrived and determined, after interviewing the victims, that Showers was also the suspect in this incident.
ASO’s deputies and detectives, K-9 unit, SWAT team, and aviation unit, along with Alachua County Fire Rescue’s drone operators, worked to locate Showers, and he was eventually found at his residence in the Hills of Santa Fe and taken into custody.
A search of the residence reportedly produced a novelty lighter that looks like a small handgun. The photo of the lighter below was posted by ASO.

Wow!. My family are renters and we’re all good people, responsible and law abiding citizens. My family has successful businesses in Gainesville and never been in any trouble. We have five kids, one is a new Army combat medic veteran and a student at Embry Riddle Aeronautical University along with his wife. We’ve never been late or caused any problems for the owners of the houses we’ve rented from or anyone else. Are you implying that people who rent houses are bad people and the ones who own the homes are good?
When you name your child King, how is it not surprising that he grows up thinking he can do whatever he wants?? The parents should be charged with something for naming him this.

Evidently King is a star football player. How many star athletes have we seen have favor with freedoms that have gotten them into trouble? This may be the youngest one yet. The boyfriend deleted his threatening comment to those posting negative comments about King. The boyfriends FB page shows the “thuggery” mentality that King displayed. This kid is on a path of self destruction. He is lucky it didn’t end the day he tried to carjack someone.
