18-year-old arrested in Holly Heights, allegedly had gun in his hand

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Timothy Duane Means, 18, was arrested early this morning after allegedly refusing commands from deputies to show his hands; after subduing him, deputies reported that he had a gun in his hand.

Alachua County Sheriff’s Office deputies reported that they encountered Means with several other people while on foot patrol near the intersection of SW 4th Place and SW 67th Terrace. When deputies asked the group to stop, the others complied, but Means reportedly turned his body sideways so deputies could not see his right hand. Means allegedly refused commands to show his hands and turned as if he planned to run, so deputies reported that they Tased him.

A deputy reported that as soon as he deployed his Taser, he saw a handgun in Means’ right hand; Means was then reportedly arrested without further incident. The gun’s serial number had reportedly been scratched off. A search of Means also reportedly produced 1.5 oxycodone pills.

Means has an extensive local juvenile history between 2014 and 2021, including a conviction for burglary. He was also convicted of grand theft of a motor vehicle, resisting arrest without violence, and battery on detention staff in Seminole County.

Means has been charged with carrying a concealed weapon without a permit, possession of a firearm by a delinquent, removing the serial number of a firearm, loitering, resisting arrest without violence, and possession of drugs without a prescription. He is being held on $55,000 bail.

Yep, another criminal finds Gainesville to be a welcoming community.

    Yep, Democrats destruction continues.

  • At best he’ll plea bargain and be sentenced on only a couple charges thanks to our great state attorney’s office, he’ll probably do less than a year and be back on the streets with more street cred to add to his reputation in the hood. Don’t they let these guys rack up 10 or 15 felonies with slaps on the hand nowadays?
