19-year-old on probation charged with possession of pistol and ammunition by a gang-related felon
Staff report
GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Jamarion Dashaun Johnson, 19, was arrested yesterday for possession of firearms and ammunition by a gang-related delinquent.
An Alachua County Sheriff’s (ASO) Deputy reported that Johnson was adjudicated delinquent in April 2024 for grand theft of a motor vehicle; the adjudication prohibits him from lawfully possessing firearms and ammunition until he is 24 years old.
He has also been on juvenile probation since April 2026 for a felony battery offense, including a requirement to wear a GPS monitor.
During the summer of 2026, a Gainesville Police Department (GPD) officer investigated allegations that Johnson possessed firearms and reportedly found multiple photographs and videos, dated in July and August 2026, showing Johnson in physical possession of a black AR-style pistol and a black 1911 pistol with a brown wooden handle. The officer also reported that Johnson’s ankle monitor showed him at his residence when the photos and videos were made, and Johnson reportedly said in a post that the AR-style pistol was functional and he intended to illegally modify it to fire automatically.
Because Johnson’s residence is in unincorporated Alachua County, the investigation was turned over to ASO.
On September 18, the GPD officer and ASO deputies executed a search warrant at Johnson’s residence and reportedly found three loaded handgun magazines, an empty handgun holster, loose ammunition, and an empty 5.56 rifle magazine; a black 1911 handgun with a wooden handle was reportedly found hidden in a hole in the wall of the closet in Johnson’s bedroom.
Post Miranda, Johnson reportedly acknowledged that he knows he is a delinquent who is also on probation; he confirmed that the bedroom is his and is only used by him. He reportedly said at first that he only had one or two “clips” (magazines) with pistol ammunition under his bed, and he denied knowing anything about the 1911 pistol.
When the deputy asked more questions about the pistol, Johnson reportedly changed his answer and said, “It’s mine”; he said he “found” it somewhere in the woods about two months ago and kept it for “protection.” He denied knowing anything about the AR-style pistol and said if there were any photos or videos of him with that type of firearm, it would have been a BB gun.
The deputy noted that Johnson is a confirmed eastside “43rd Street” criminal gang member and “4BL” criminal gang associate.
Johnson has been charged with three counts of possession or a firearm or ammunition by a gang-related delinquent. He has at least two convictions for juvenile offenses that would be felonies for an adult. Judge Luis Bustamante set bail at $300,000.
Articles about arrests are based on reports from law enforcement agencies. The charges listed are taken from the arrest report and/or court records and are only accusations. All suspects are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

The culture of violence can’t be fixed by mere mortals. It will take a higher calling to fix their inbred fixation on guns and violence.
Most young men are dead from the neck up until they are 25-years-old. Sad that this poor kid is already “justice system involved” at such a young age. The photos of him with guns suggest it serves as some sort of currency for him. Status. Maybe he’ll grow out of this non-sense at some point, though the revolving door of the criminal justice system suggests it will require a significant intervention by his Maker to get him on a better path…
Jail is probably the safest place for this guy. His “gang involvment” is likely to get him killed. An NIH funded study centered in St. Louis notes “black male gang members experienced about a 40-fold elevated risk of homicide compared to all males in the United States.”
