Alabama man charged with trying to break into home near Newberry Road
Staff report
GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Antonio Montez Wilson, 43, of Alabama, was arrested yesterday for allegedly trying to break into a home near Newberry Road.
The responding Alachua County Sheriff’s Deputy reported that the victim said her daughter had seen a man trying to break in through a window in the back yard of her house, which is on NW 55th Street near Newberry Road.
The victim reported that she heard noises on the side of the house and then in the fenced back yard; the deputy noted that the gate was partially open when he arrived. The victim said her daughter, who was on the other side of the house, saw a man trying to lift one slat in the jalousie window with his hands. She said that after she saw the man, he ran back around the house and out through the gate; she said he was wearing a green camouflage jacket and possibly gray pants.
The deputy noted that the bottom slat of the window was stuck on the slat above, leaving a gap that the man used to try to pull it open.
Deputies located and detained Wilson in the 6100 block of West Newberry Road because he was wearing faded jeans and a green camouflage jacket.
A search of the back yard of the home reportedly produced a smartphone that did not belong to the occupants of the house; the phone number was linked to an Alabama number in law enforcement databases, and Wilson reportedly has an Alabama driver’s license.
The victim and her daughter were transported to the location where Wilson was detained, and the victim’s daughter reportedly identified Wilson as the man she had seen trying to break into the house.
Wilson has been charged with attempted burglary of an occupied residence. He has no local criminal history, and his listed address is in Birmingham, Alabama. Judge Craig DeThomasis set bail at $2,500.
Articles about arrests are based on reports from law enforcement agencies. The charges listed are taken from the arrest report and/or court records and are only accusations. All suspects are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
$2,500??
This judge could possibly be a kamala voter… Buck would have been $20,000 bond minimum.
Write to your state reps. They set bails at a “sliding scale” rate a suspect could possibly afford 10% of.
Lawyers make our laws, a major conflict of interest. Prohibit lawyers from political office, put juries in charge of the courts, and simply all laws too. Crime and insurance rates will plummet.
JK.. the House and Senate , known as Congress make laws, which in this state are run by Republican lawmakers, not lawyers..
NT, what JK is saying is that lawyers are disproportionately represented among career politicians. Lawyers are overwhelmingly the most prominent occupation to “serve” in congress, especially in the senate. This is no secret.

his defense is he couldn’t see out of 1 eye and thought he was still in Alabama. Also these wandering HOBO crimes are migrating all over the GSSR not this at your main intersections the utopia is not so much a utopia anymore but keep voting blue GSSR residents and watch this HOBO problem only get worst. The only solution is to stop feeding the bears “Park Ranger Rules” so get rid of Grace/St. Francis House. Apparently these good intentions liberals never considered by creating a HOBO magnet it might attract other HOBOs from across the state and country. you could probably get rid of a lot these hobos by sending to 1 of 2 places because they’re all probably state raised either send to FLDOC or FLDCF. this would discourage other HOBOs from migrating here because they’re a “free range type people” if you know what I mean.

You forgot to recommend my favorite theft deterrence. A couple of pups (medium to large). They kept me quite safe in my former city. Perps want nothing to do with a house inside which dogs are barking and snarling
I only set the alarm when the dogs weren’t home.
WTF was he here for? Did he lose a sports bet on the Gators and came looking for pawnable items, too?
ACLUSPLCDNC 🤡👺💩👹👿
He won’t be able to bond out. Setting a bonds doesn’t deter crime.
