Alachua County launches Pothole Portal
Press release from Alachua County
ALACHUA COUNTY, Fla. – As part of an ongoing effort to improve pothole repairs, Alachua County has contracted with PSD Portal’s “Citywide” software and is launching its Pothole Portal.
The user-friendly platform allows residents to report potholes online and will replace rbmaintanance@alachuacounty.
Residents can create an account or submit a report as a guest. The portal includes an interactive map that allows residents to pinpoint the exact location of a pothole.
When a pothole is reported, it is entered into the County’s digital system and automatically routed to the appropriate road file. County staff will use the portal’s analytics to help prioritize repairs, allocate resources, and improve service delivery.
“Along with our new crews and machinery, this is part of a concerted effort to improve our pothole repair effort,” said Public Works Director Ramon Gavarrete. “We will continue to look for efficiencies and innovative ways to address this issue.”

Patching our aged previously potholed roads with more patches isn’t the answer. The base of these roads is kaput and they need to be repaved
Follow up question for the commissioners…..What happened to the money you asked the voters to approve for road repairs? Homeless shelters?
Will citizens be able to get information about how many potholes have been repaired?
The new posted link doesn’t work. The website address looks more like spam than a government address. Will it show the public’s interests/concerns? How much is this non-government website costing the taxpayers?
The link on “Go to the Pothole Portal” works.
This portal is a joke. I logged in as a guest, and the only option available is “Report a Pothole.” There is no map of existing reports, no status updates, no statistics, and no way to see whether someone else has already reported the same problem.
That completely misses the point of crowdsourcing. People are more likely to participate when they can see that their reports matter, follow the progress, and view the results of the community’s efforts. This is poor web design combined with an even poorer understanding of how to create public engagement.
Arne,
Actually there has been an enormous amount of participation. Learn more here: https://www.alachuacounty.us/News/Article/Pages/Alachua-County-Pothole-Portal-Update.aspx
