Updated: Alachua County Legislative Delegation Hearing to be held January 10

NEWBERRY, Fla. – The Alachua County Legislative Delegation will be holding its annual public hearing on Tuesday, January 10, 2023, at 1:30 p.m. The meeting will be held in the Jackson N. Sasser Fine Arts Hall on the campus of Santa Fe State College at 3000 NW 83rd Street in Gainesville (please note that this is an updated location).

The Legislative Delegation includes State Senator Jennifer Bradley (R-Fleming Island), State Senator Keith Perry (R-Gainesville), State Representative Chuck Brannan III (R- Macclenny), State Representative Chuck Clemons (R-Newberry), and State Representative Yvonne Hinson (D-Gainesville). The Delegation Hearing is intended to afford local residents and officials an opportunity to request legislation or state funding, as well as to express opinions on any other matter of state concern, in advance of the 2023 Regular Legislative Session, slated to begin in Tallahassee on March 7, 2023.  This hearing is open to the public.

For those who wish to make an appropriations request for a specific project to be considered, please fill out and submit an Appropriations Projects Form for each project by no later than Friday, January 6, to HD22@myfloridahouse.gov with the subject line entitled “Alachua County Appropriations Request”. The form can also be found on the House Appropriation Projects website located at https://www.myfloridahouse.gov/Sections/Appropriations/projects.aspx, along with guidance to filling it out and answers to frequently asked questions.

Additional notes:

  • For those wishing to provide handouts at the Hearing, we suggest having a minimum of 10 copies available – one copy for each member and another copy for their staff.
  • For speakers representing governmental entities, the Delegation anticipates a 5-minute time limit for their presentations, with additional time allowed for follow-up questions from the Delegation.
  • For all other presenters, the Delegation respectfully requests limiting presentations to 3 minutes in order to provide enough time for all those who wish to participate.
