Alachua man arrested for pushing into ex-girlfriend’s apartment, attacking her boyfriend

ALACHUA, Fla. – James Ray Bradley, Jr., 21, was arrested early this morning after allegedly pushing his way into his ex-girlfriend’s apartment and attacking her boyfriend.

At about 6:37 p.m. on January 12, an Alachua Police Department officer responded to an apartment at Sherwood Oaks apartment complex (13400 NW 140th Street), where multiple witnesses reportedly told him that three black males had left in a blue SUV and possibly had firearms.

The caller reportedly told the officer that her ex-boyfriend had come to her apartment after she told him one of their mutual children was sick, but she had not invited him; she said that when she opened the front door to talk to him, he pushed his way in and demanded to speak with her boyfriend. She said she repeatedly asked Bradley to leave, but he refused.

Bradley allegedly charged at the male victim and placed him in a choke hold; after he broke free, Bradley allegedly bit the male victim’s ear before leaving in a blue SUV.

Officers located Bradley at his apartment and arrested him at about 3:57 a.m.

Bradley has been charged with burglary with battery. He has a juvenile conviction but no adult convictions. Judge Susan Miller-Jones ordered him held without bail pending a hearing on a motion from the State Attorney’s office to hold him without bail until trial.
