Alachua teen arrested for organizing group attack on inmate at Juvenile Detention Facility
GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Demarion Eylon Queen, 18, of Alachua, was booked into the Alachua County Jail in early February and charged with battery on a person detained in a correctional facility after allegedly organizing a group attack on another inmate at the Juvenile Detention Facility in June 2024.
According to his arrest report, Queen allegedly popped the lock on the victim’s pod and woke him up to ask him what side of town he was from; when the victim said he was from Village Green, Queen allegedly told the other inmates the victim was from “a rival side of town” and then let the other inmates into the victim’s pod, where he and at least three other inmates reportedly punched and kicked the victim.
The victim reportedly curled into a fetal position while the other inmates stomped and kicked him; staff reportedly tried to move the victim, but Queen and the other inmates allegedly attacked the victim again, punching him repeatedly in the head and body. The victim reportedly sustained a black eye and a mild concussion.
A warrant for Queen’s arrest was issued in August 2024, with bail set at $50,000.
In December 2024, Queen was in a Juvenile Detention Facility in Tampa when he allegedly passed a vape pen to another inmate, hidden in a composition notebook. He was charged as an adult with introduction of contraband into a detention facility and entered a plea of nolo contendere to the charge; in early February, he was sentenced to time served (43 days) and released to the custody of Alachua County.
Although Queen’s arrest warrant set bail at $50,000, Judge Meshon Rawls set bail at $200, and Queen was released after posting bail.

Poor Judgement or DEI from a BS judge. And you wonder why the prisoners in the county jail system seem to be in charge.
Why do you think this was a DEI ruling? Considering the law does not see diversity or inclusion when rendering decisions. Maybe equity, considering all of the facts of the the case and the defendants previous crimes. However, you wouldn’t one that based off the impartial reporting above.

Look at the judge and her background as well as her husvands background. DEI written all over them
Instead of posting your ignorance why don’t you run for judge next cycle? Unless of course you haven’t competed your GED yet.. maybe there is a DEI scholarship with your name on it! We should include folks even as goofy as you! Get it before it’s banned!

$200??? My little sister was charged with minor in possession of alcohol in 1987 and hers was set at $1000! I chose to let her stay in jail until arraignment.
