Archer woman arrested for allegedly grabbing child by the neck at Flip Factory

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Sabra Lea Ranslow, 59, of Archer, has been arrested and charged with child abuse without great bodily harm after allegedly grabbing a child by the neck at Flip Factory.
The responding Alachua County Sheriff’s Deputy reported that at 3:45 p.m. on March 1, the 11-year-old victim was playing with other children at the Flip Factory trampoline park (7400 W. Newberry Road) when another group of children approached. The second group was reportedly aggressive toward the victim’s group, causing the victim’s group to move away. The second group reportedly followed the victim, “badgering” him and pushing him. The victim told the deputy he pushed one of the other children away from him in an attempt to defend himself and create some distance.
At that point, Ranslow, who had arrived at the trampoline park with the second group of children, allegedly yelled at the victim, “Don’t touch my kid!” and grabbed the victim around the neck with both hands. The victim said he had trouble breathing and thought, “Is this actually happening?” The victim said Ranslow didn’t let go until another adult physically dragged her away, yelling, “We could go to jail!”
The deputy reported that surveillance cameras at Flip Factory captured the incident and showed the victim and several other children standing near the netted entrance to a set of trampolines; Ranslow can reportedly be seen aggressively approaching the victim and grabbing him by the neck with both hands. Another woman, who was wearing a surgical mask and a baseball hat, immediately grabbed Ranslow’s left arm and pulled her away from the victim. Ranslow and her group immediately left Flip Factory.
After Alachua County Sheriff’s Office published a request for the identity of the woman shown above on March 20, multiple people reportedly provided Ranslow’s name, and the victim positively identified her in a photo line-up.
Ranslow was arrested yesterday, and the deputy reported that she “acknowledged her involvement in this act” at the time of her arrest but declined to answer questions post-Miranda.
The deputy concluded that Ranslow’s actions were “without provocation and were undertaken with extreme malice toward the juvenile victim.”
Ranslow has been charged with child abuse without great bodily harm, a felony. She has no criminal convictions, and Judge Jonathan Ramsey ordered her released on her own recognizance.

Not condoning her actions but some of the kids I’ve seen out and about need some hands put on them.

Wasn’t that an 11 year old child who was charged with armed car jacking a few days ago? I wonder if the cops who arrested the boy got in trouble for putting their hands on him?

Sounds like the so called ‘victim” was bullying her kid and she decided to intervene.
@lou I believe you read that wrong. The victim was the one being bullied by the group of kids and the victim pushed one that was being aggressive away. She then intervened. Hence now we know why that aggressive group of children learned their behavior.
No the victim was not bullying her group of kids, her group of kids came in and started bullying the victim and his friends and the victim left the area and the ladies children continue to follow and bully him and that’s when the kid pushed back

Maybe if you read better it clearly states the first group was provoking the victim, and the victim pushes them away in an act of self defense. Keep in mind they put their hands on the victim first

You didn’t read the article. Read the second paragraph (and the third and fourth paragraph). Even the mask lady she was with confronted her.

Note the use of the word “reportedly” because this is the narrative given to the deputy by the victim not by the group of kids who were “reportedly aggressive” and “badgering” the victim because those kids left with the woman after her friend stopped her from choking the victim.
The woman was provoked in that she saw her son getting shoved/pushed by the victim. She even said “leave my son alone” before she started choking the victim. She screwed up. She way overreacted to what she presumably thought was a kid getting rough with her son. That’s why she went after the victim. That is, she was provoked. Did she go too far? Absolutely! Does she deserve charges? Yes.
Except that the whole event was on video, but not mentioned. Was/is either group either a informal gang or bully group? It would make a difference that wouldn’t be PC and thus not reportable.

Yeah, I read the article. I stand by my conjecture. She saw kid shove her son and way overreacted. She just didn’t randomly start choking a kid. She did it because she thought he was getting rough with her son.
Yes, her reaction was way over the top, and she could have seriously injured the victim. She thus deserved to be charged.

It is not surprising at all to find out someone in this woman’s party was wearing a blue surgical mask. If you wear that mask out in public you are either mentally ill or you are pledging your allegiance to the far left, which is in itself a form of mental illness.
Not condoning anything that happened here in this article, but just because the woman wears a mask does not mean anything. You do not know what is wrong with her she could have an autoimmune disease or even cancer, some people were wearing masks due to medical issues way before covid.
I just tested positive and will quarantine for 5 days and wear a mask for another 5 days…to protect you. It’s called citizenship.

Nowhere does it say anyone put hands on anyone before the victim pushed the other kid. Writing she did it “without provocation” when the victim basically admits to starting the physical part of the confrontation is disingenuous.

So what happened to the bullies? Nothing as usual, did the cop even talk to them to get their side of the story or did he decide it wasn’t needed for him to control the problem.

I love all kids but bullying is one thing I can’t stand. Then it’s a group. Oh no! Bullying is one of the leading causes of youth suicide. With that being said, I understand this mother’s actions. When your child is being bothered (and who knows, this may be a child that her child has had an issue with before this particular day) in that mommy moment the sky is the limit and hell or jail could be our destiny when it comes to somebody bothering your kids.
