GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Joseph Taylor, Jr., 45, has been charged with aggravated stalking after allegedly breaking a window at his ex-girlfriend’s home, repeatedly contacting her after she asked him to stop, and threatening to kill her.

A Gainesville Police Department officer reported that the victim and Taylor broke up several months ago, and since then, Taylor has made “numerous” attempts to contact her by phone and in person. On May 20, he allegedly knocked on the door of the place she was staying and told her he would break the window if she did not open the door; a few minutes later, Taylor allegedly broke the window with an unknown object.

On June 4, Taylor allegedly called the victim several times and threatened to come to her apartment to beat and/or kill her.

As a registered Career Offender, Taylor is required to report his address to law enforcement. When the officer went to his registered address, a family member reportedly said Taylor had not lived there for several months.

Taylor has been charged with aggravated stalking and violating Career Offender registration requirements. He has 16 felony convictions (eight violent) and 12 misdemeanor convictions (one violent); he has served four state prison sentences, with his most recent release in August 2021. He is facing a property damage charge for allegedly breaking the window. Judge Susan Miller-Jones ordered him held without bail pending a hearing on a motion from the State Attorney’s office to hold him without bail until trial; if the judge denies the motion, bail will be set at that hearing.

Articles about arrests are based on reports from law enforcement agencies. The charges listed are taken from the arrest report and/or court records and are only accusations. All suspects are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

  • No means No Joseph. You should know better since you are 45 years old. She doesn’t want to be around your psychotic a*s.

    • There’s rules for thee, and rules for me.
      Oh wait! That’s a different clientele…nope.

    • There is definitely nothing weak about him!!! Watch ur mouth yes I’m the victim but NO ONE AND I MEAN NO ONE WILL DISRESPECT HIM IN ANY KIND OF WAY PERIOD

      • I sincerely doubt anyone, anywhere, is trembling in fear of your silly threat. If indeed you are the “victim” and you’re defending him then you deserve him.

      • Hey HIS,
You win todays award for “Dumbest comment” He is a career Offender. I can’t tell you what he has going on below his waist, but I can tell he has very little going on in his head! He’s a dumb ass!

  • DeSantis needs to send repeat career offenders away. Including judges and lawyers.
    ACLUSPLCDNC 🤡👹👺💩👿

  • “Career offender?” Then why is he out? Why isn’t his “career” spent in Raiford?

  • The word career offender is hilarious. Then he gets to be back on the street adding more offenses to his career. What a town.

  • The definition of a career offender which many don’t know is, a person with a few convictions can be classified having a career. Now being convicted and being released depends on the sentence the charge carries. Third degree felonies, 5 years max then released. Can’t give a person a life sentence for being a career offender when his/her offense doesn’t require that hard of a sentence.
