City of Alachua hires new Public Information Officer

Press release from the City of Alachua
ALACHUA, Fla. – The City of Alachua has hired a new Public Information Officer (PIO), Brent Lanier.
Lanier has an educational background in Public Relations. He earned a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from the University of Florida, along with an Undergraduate Certificate in Public Affairs. Lanier furthered his education at Florida State University, where he obtained a Master of Public Administration and a Graduate Certificate in Public Financial Management.
Maybe somebody who has also studied at FSU won’t blindly follow along with the “old guard” in Alachua(?)
Only one question: will he continue the city practice of stonewalling public records requests? If no, great. If yes, he is a worthless hire to cover up city hall doings and attempt damage control. Time will quickly tell.
Make a formal complaint to the state attorney in your area (state attorneys are empowered to prosecute suits charging public officials with violations of the Public Records Act).
Run, Brent. RUN! Reach out to Kyler Burk to see why he left after less than two years in this gig.
Public Information Officer is such a misnomer.
Where is clovis
Why do they need a full time PR spinmeister?
How much is he paid?
