City of Gainesville Redistricting – Hands-on Map Building Workshop/Webinar at Cone Park

Are you ready to draw your district map for commission consideration?

The drawing of electoral districts is often considered one of the least transparent processes in democratic governance.

Cone Park Library Branch and the City of Gainesville invite the public to participate in an in interactive workshop from 1-3 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 19. Participants can join the workshop from their home computers OR join us at Cone Park Library.

UF professors Michael McDonald, Ph.D. and Dan Smith, Ph.D. will lead the workshop and demonstrate use of the the DistrictBuilder mapping tool. Following the demonstration, participants can receive assistance building their maps for submission and consideration.

Join us for this informative and hands-on map building session. Learn more about the City of Gainesville’s redistricting process, the guiding principles of representation and explore the map building software on the City of Gainesville website.

A limited number of laptops and headsets will be available at Cone Park Library.
