City of Hawthorne to host city-wide clean-up day on April 30

On Saturday, April 30, 2022, from 8:00 a.m. to noon at the Wastewater Treatment Plant located at 23016 SE 65th Lane, Hawthorne, the City of Hawthorne has teamed up with Keep America Beautiful Inc., WastePro, and Alachua County to offer the residents of the City of Hawthorne an opportunity to discard bulk items and household trash to assist with keeping the streets and community clean.

Three dumpsters will be located at the Wastewater Treatment Plant at 23016 SE 65th Lane in Hawthorne. One dumpster is only for tires. No commercial businesses may bring tires; only residents may discard their tires. Two dumpsters are for bagged household trash and bulk items, such as furniture, desks, chairs, and tables.

Hazardous materials, including household appliances, computers, electronics, paint cans, oil, batteries, and aerosol cans will not be accepted.

Gates will be closed promptly at noon.
