Cyclist hit by pickup truck in Turkey Creek

ALACHUA, Fla. – A 72-year-old woman was trauma-alerted to a local hospital this morning after a pickup truck hit a cyclist on Turkey Creek Boulevard.

According to Alachua Police Department, at about 8:30 a.m., the bicyclist was riding north on Turkey Creek Boulevard when the driver of the pickup truck entered the lane of travel from a stop sign into the northbound lane, violating the right-of-way. The pickup truck struck the bicyclist at approximately 20 mph, knocking her off her bike.

The cyclist was trauma-alerted by ambulance to UF Health Shands with a non-life-threatening injury to her head.
