Donna Bradbrook earns local endorsements

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Donna Bradbrook is consolidating the support of trusted Alachua County leaders, labor, and advocacy groups in her bid for the Alachua County Commission District 2 seat. The endorsements reflect the deep trust earned by Bradbrook over the years as a County worker and during the campaign as champion for affordability, conservation, and local control.
County leaders backing Bradbrook include current Commissioners Marihelen Wheeler and Anna Prizzia, as well as former Commissioner Robert “Hutch” Hutchinson. She also earned the endorsements of the Alachua County Firefighters Union, UF College Democrats, Gainesville Animal Defenders, and affordable housing advocacy group Gainesville Is For People.
Wheeler, the current District 2 Commissioner, explained, “I’m supporting Donna Bradbrook for District 2 because I know her work in the County to be a universal focus on the economic and environmental well-being of the county. She lives in the heart of District 2 in High Springs and shares the same concerns I have for natural resources and growth in our rural municipalities. She knows how to find the financial resources needed by our many community social services as well as those municipalities who need them. Having worked for the County these many years, she can step into the role without skipping a beat!”
Hutchinson shares the sentiment, stating, “Serving on the Alachua County Commission requires vision and discipline. Donna Bradbrook has the judgment to protect what makes our county special while planning for growth, working with our cities, and focusing on the basics that matter to families, including well-maintained roads and responsible stewardship of taxpayer dollars.”
IAFF Local 3852 President Ryan Lowery explained why Alachua County Firefighters are backing Bradbrook, writing, “As Alachua County continues to grow, maintaining high-quality emergency services requires thoughtful planning and investment in the workforce, equipment, and infrastructure that keep our community safe. Recruiting and retaining qualified firefighters, paramedics, and other public servants has become increasingly competitive throughout Florida… Our endorsement reflects our confidence that Donna Bradbrook will provide sound, responsible leadership and a commitment to working with all stakeholders to address the challenges and opportunities facing Alachua County.”
Jason Sanchez of Gainesville Is For People emphasized Bradbrook’s commitment to affordability: “Gainesville Is For People is proud to support Donna Bradbrook for Alachua County Commission. We believe Donna has both the desire and the know-how to make housing more affordable in Alachua County.”
Bradbrook has served in many roles over her 20 years in Alachua County government, including as Operational and Strategic Planning Manager for Alachua County and manager of the Alachua County Citizens Academy. In these roles, she has worked closely with the Commission on planning, policy implementation, and facilitating robust public engagement. She has received recognition from the Government Finance Officers Association and the International City/County Management Association, reflecting her integrity and the quality of her work and leadership.
Bradbrook campaign representatives say the broad community support was earned through her leadership, experience, and vision. They added that it validates what they have known from the beginning of the campaign: Bradbrook provides the best path forward for Alachua County, one that safeguards what makes Alachua great today, while charting a balanced and sustainable future.
While some will claim her endorsements stem from a single factor, knowing three of the four candidates allows me to say without reservation that she is the right choice. She brings proven knowledge, deep expertise, and zero hidden agendas to the table. She would be an outstanding addition to the District 2 seat.

I like Donna as a candidate because she has no problem speaking her mind, calling out the lies and BS, and putting the Commissioners and County management in their place. I worked with Donna for a while, and she was a breath of fresh air in the County; no political games, no riding out the system for a pension, no playing sides to get ahead. Just pure grit and crazy hours of work. Donna is running because she has seen the County government from the inside and knows that enough is enough and that changes need to be made now, especially when it comes to roads and more efficient government spending.
Remember that there are no Republican candidates, and whoever wins on August 18th will serve as Commissioner of District 2. If you want change and someone who will challenge the other 4 commissioners on the dais, then Donna is the best candidate.
Fix the roads!!!
Donna lives just outside of High Springs and will advocate for the rural communities. I attended a meet and greet for her and was impressed by her knowledge of the issues. She travels, daily, the roads and has had to replace several tires and rims.
If y’all are certain that you want someone to truly advocate for western Alachua County (even unincorporated areas), then a vote for Bradbrook will get you that. She is an insider that is coming in now from outside the power structure to advocate for us
She is most likely to the person to make the changes many of us would like.
I have known here for years and know she is a truly honest person and she knows every aspect of the way the county works.
The most competent person we are likely to ever see run for the office.
