Early voting for the Primary and City of Gainesville election continues through August 15

ALACHUA COUNTY, Fla. – Early Voting for the 2026 Primary and City of Gainesville Election continues through August 15 at all eight locations at 9 a.m.

Through August 15, all registered voters in Alachua County will be able to vote early at any of the county’s eight early voting locations between 9 a.m. and 6 p.m.

Here are the eight early voting locations:

• Supervisor of Elections Office: 515 N. Main Street, Gainesville, FL 32601
• Millhopper Branch Library: 3145 NW 43rd St, Gainesville, FL 32606
• Tower Road Branch Library: 3020 SW 75th St, Gainesville, FL 32608
• Hawthorne Community Center, 6700 SE 221st St, Hawthorne, FL 32640
• Legacy Park Multipurpose Center: 15400 Peggy Rd, Alachua, FL 32615
• J. Wayne Reitz Union: 655 Reitz Union Drive, UF Campus, Gainesville, FL 32611
• Alachua County Agriculture and Equestrian Center: 23100 W Newberry Rd, Newberry, FL 32669
• Santa Fe College, S-029, 3000 NW 83rd St, Gainesville, FL 32606

Florida is a closed primary election state, meaning that only voters registered with a political party can vote for that party’s candidates in partisan races.

There will be two Universal Primary Contests on the August 18 Primary Election ballot – Alachua County Commission District 2 and the Florida House of Representatives District 21.

• Alachua County Commission District 2 will appear on ALL ballots regardless of party affiliation.

• Florida House of Representatives District 21 will appear on ALL ballots of voters residing in State House District 21 regardless of party affiliation.

A Universal Primary Contest occurs when all the candidates for a specific contest have the same party affiliation and the winner will face no opposition in the General Election.

All registered voters, regardless of their party affiliation, can vote on issues and nonpartisan races.

Election Day for the Primary and City of Gainesville Election is on August 18, 2026.

Voters can deliver their completed vote-by-mail ballots to the third floor of the Supervisor of Elections Office, located at 515 N. Main Street during normal business hours – 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday.

In addition, during the early voting period, voters will be able to deliver their completed vote-by-mail ballot to any of the Secure Ballot Intake Stations located outside of each early voting site. The secure ballot intake stations will be available during early voting hours (9 a.m. to 6 p.m.) and will be continuously monitored by trained Secure Ballot Intake Station attendants.

After early voting ends on August 15, the Secure Ballot Intake Station will only be available at the Supervisor of Elections Office on Sunday, August 16, and Monday, August 17, from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., and on Election Day (August 18) from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.
