Public notice of meeting

The School Board of Alachua County will have its regular meeting at 6:00 p.m. on February 15, with a public hearing on school zone boundaries for Idylwild and Metcalfe Elementary Schools at 6:30 p.m.

NOTICE OF PUBLIC MEETING

The School Board Alachua County, Florida, shall hold a public meeting to which all persons are invited.

DATE AND TIME: Tuesday, February 15, 2022 at 6 p.m.

LOCATION: District Office Boardroom, 620 East University Ave, Gainesville, FL

In order to maintain social distancing, the number of people allowed in the Meeting Room may be limited.

PURPOSE: General Business Meeting

This meeting is being called pursuant to and in accordance with Section 1001.372(1) and 120.525, F.S. The agenda is available in the Superintendent s Office, District Administration Building.

There are three ways citizens may offer their input for this meeting: 1) submit input through email at issues@gm.sbac.edu by noon the day of the board meeting; 2) go to the Boardroom to offer their input in person during the meeting. CDC guidelines may be followed in this process, or 3) Check the February 15, 2022 Agenda on the District s website, www.sbac.edu, prior to the meeting for additional options to participate remotely.

Any person who decides to appeal a decision of the School Board with respect to any matter considered at such meeting is hereby advised that, for such purpose, he or she may need to ensure that a verbatim record of the meeting is made, which record includes the testimony and evidence upon which the appeal is to be based.

NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING

The School Board of Alachua County, Florida, gives notice of its intent to amend Policy 5120.01 School Zone Boundary Descriptions. In addition, the School Board will hold a public hearing as follows:

Date and Time: Wednesday, February 15, 2022, 6:30 p.m.

Place: Board Room, Alachua County Public Schools District Office, 620 East University Avenue, Gainesville, FL

Purpose and Effect: The purpose is to amend the school zone boundaries for two schools: Idylwild Elementary School and Metcalfe Elementary School. The amendments address the expected overcrowding at Idylwild Elementary School and the significant under-enrollment at Metcalfe Elementary School during the 2022-2023 school year. The effect is that the policy will align with the current growth and projected capacity for each of these schools while still allowing for growth.
