Staff report

ALACHUA COUNTY, Fla. – Just before 2:00 a.m. on October 3, units from Alachua County Fire Rescue, Gainesville Fire Rescue, and the Windsor Fire Department were dispatched to a residential building fire off of SE 35th Street in the unincorporated area of Alachua County, south of SE Hawthorne Road.

Engine 60 arrived to a single-story residence with moderate smoke showing. Units made an aggressive interior attack and located a Can-Am three-wheel motorcycle that caught fire in the garage of the residence. Units were able to prevent the fire from spreading and kept the fire contained to the garage.

Units from Gainesville Fire Rescue assisted in removing the garage doors. Both residents were able to escape without injury due to working smoke detectors that alerted them to the fire. No one was injured during the fire, and the cause of the fire is being investigated by the Alachua County Fire Marshal.

  • Wow, lots of fires lately. Great work ACFR and the other crews that responded. So glad no one was injured.
