TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – Governor Ron DeSantis issued the following memorandum today:
On Tuesday, August 25, 2026, country music icon Dolly Parton passed away at the age of 80.
Pursuant to the President’s order and as a mark of respect, I hereby direct the flags of the United States and the State of Florida to be flown at half-staff at all local and state buildings, installations, and grounds throughout the State of Florida until sunset on September 1, 2026.

She really was America’s sweetheart. God, bless her.
We saw Dolly at the opening of the Phillips Center. The whole room fell in love with this gracious lady. A great loss but what a wonderful legacy.
Sad to hear that she passed. She lived a full life, made good music, and her children’s charity benefitted many.
