Gainesville hosts Sister City delegation from Duhok, Iraq
Press release from the City of Gainesville
City leaders from Duhok, capital of the Duhok Governorate located in the Kurdistan Region of northern Iraq, visit Gainesville this week. The delegation from Gainesville’s sister city will deliver a presentation about their municipality to the Gainesville City Commission at tomorrow’s General Policy Committee meeting.
When: 1 p.m. Thursday, April 14
Where: City Hall Auditorium
The cities forged a Sister City relationship in 2006, and officials from both cities renewed their partnership last March during an official ceremony via Zoom.
The Sister City partnership is designed to promote the exchange of ideas and foster collaboration between public and private sectors in both municipalities. The cities share a common interest in economic development, healthcare, sustainability, education, business, and the desire to promote mutual understanding among its citizens.
The Sister City Program, governed by Sister Cities International, was initiated in 1956 under President Dwight D. Eisenhower to encourage greater friendship and understanding between the U.S. and other nations.
Poe should try to look more presentable (including losing about 40 pounds).
Where’s his mask? He should either cover or shave
Off the commie goatie thing he’s got going on…
What’s with the bib?, he gonna be feeding at the trough?? Oink, oink… no problem with world hunger at
His house…
He should have on workout clothes instead of cooking clothes. I’m sure at least one of the people standing there is thinking that, among other thoughts. Why did we pick Gainesville Florida instead of another city is likely another thought in someone’s mind there. It looks like he trims his commie beard extra high, which looks weird.
Another common interest they share is their disdain for the United States Constitution.
Maybe Poe and the rest will get some pointers for how to effectively run a 3rd world town.
Kurds part of Iraq is oil rich, there’s no biomass plant there.
