Gainesville Housing Authority to honor residents at annual Celebration of Success

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – The Gainesville Housing Authority (GHA) will recognize the outstanding achievements of residents during its annual Celebration of Success on Saturday, Aug. 29, at the Cotton Club Museum and Cultural Center.

The event honors individuals and families who have reached significant milestones, including academic excellence, securing meaningful employment, achieving homeownership, and graduating from the Housing Choice Voucher program through increasing financial independence.

The event will be held on Saturday, August 29, 1:00-3:00 p.m., at the Cotton Club Museum & Cultural Center (837 SE 7th Avenue) and is open to the public.

“The meaningful nature of Celebration of Success shines a spotlight on the remarkable accomplishments of our families,” said Pamela E. Davis, CEO of the Gainesville Housing Authority. “Each awardee represents perseverance, hard work, and the promise of a brighter future for themselves, their families, and our community.” 

Forty participants will be recognized for their notable accomplishments at this year’s celebration. Attendees will also hear from previous honorees whose journeys serve as powerful reflections of the organization’s mission to leverage resources in creating pathways to successful futures. This event of celebration highlights the forward momentum made possible through dedication, opportunity, and commitment to progress. 

Since the inception of Celebration of Success in 2023, GHA has presented 98 awards to community members who have demonstrated determination, resilience, and a steadfast commitment to achieving their goals.

In addition to celebrating resident achievements, this year’s event will include a public report on the outcomes of GHA’s Jobs Plus initiative, a $2.4 million U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) grant implemented from 2019 through 2026. Through workforce development, educational opportunities, employment support services, and community partnerships, Jobs Plus helped residents increase earned income, build career pathways, and advance toward greater economic self-sufficiency. The report will highlight key accomplishments, participant successes, and the lasting impact of the program on participating families and the Gainesville community.

Community leaders, GHA Board members, partners, staff, family members, and supporters will join award recipients in celebrating these milestones and recognizing the impact of programs that promote long-term independence and success.
