Gainesville man arrested for armed robbery after allegedly threatening to kill woman if she didn’t give him $20,000

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Terrence Kareem McDavid, Jr., 27, was arrested early this morning on a warrant that was issued following a sworn complaint that he threatened to kill a woman if she didn’t give him $20,000.

According to the sworn complaint, McDavid reportedly sent texts to the victim, a woman he knew, demanding that she give him $20,000 and that he would harm her if she didn’t come up with the money. He then reportedly went to her house and allegedly displayed a gun in his right hand. He then allegedly walked toward the victim, put the gun in his pocket, again demanded $20,000 from her, and said he would kill everyone in her house if she didn’t pay him something. She said nobody else was in the house at the time, but she feared for her life. She said they eventually agreed that she would give him $3,000, and she began calling friends and family to try to come up with the money.

She said a friend brought her $500, and she gave it to McDavid, but he refused to leave. She said another friend sent her $2,500 on Cashapp, and she sent that to McDavid on Cashapp. He eventually left but allegedly said, “I want to kill you over this.”

McDavid has been charged with armed robbery and is being held on $500,000 bond. He is a convicted felon who has served 5-year and 3-year state prison terms for trafficking in stolen property, battery, selling drugs, and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
