Gainesville man arrested for throwing brick into window of occupied vehicle

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Bobby Lee Davis, 57, was arrested yesterday for allegedly throwing a brick into the window of an occupied vehicle, breaking the window.

At about 9:30 p.m. on August 27, a Gainesville Police Department officer responded to the 800 block of NE 16th Terrace and reported that the victim’s vehicle had a broken window caused by a brick. The victim reportedly said that he and Davis, who have known each other for several years, had gotten into an argument, and the victim got into his car to leave the area. He said that while he was in his car and attempting to drive away, Davis picked up a brick and threw it at his vehicle; the brick hit the left rear passenger window, breaking the window and damaging the vehicle.

The officer reported finding a brick near the victim’s vehicle.

Davis left the area before the officer arrived, and he was arrested at about 6:38 p.m. on September 1 at the 8th Avenue Food Store (1634 NE 8th Avenue).

Davis has been charged with attempting to throw a deadly missile into a vehicle and misdemeanor property damage. He has six felony convictions (non-violent) and 16 misdemeanor convictions (non-violent); he is also facing two Notices to Appear, one for driving without a valid license and one for picking up and riding away with a piece of equipment that had been dropped by a Gainesville Police Department officer during a foot chase at the 8th Avenue Food Store. He has served one state prison sentence and was released in 1995. Judge Lua Lepianka set bail at $30,000.
