Gainesville man charged with possession of “furry porn”

Staff report

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Jessie James Butler, 35, was arrested yesterday and charged with 12 counts of possession of images depicting sexual activities involving animals.

On November 28, 2024, the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children received a CyberTip from Microsoft regarding a child sexual abuse image that was uploaded to Bingimage. Microsoft provided the upload IP address and the date and time of the upload (November 27). The image reportedly showed an adult male, nude from the waist down, holding a large photograph of a pre-pubescent female, also nude from the waist down.

A subpoena to Cox revealed that the IP address belonged to Jessie Butler, who lives in the 400 block of NW 29th Avenue; the GRU account at this address is also in Butler’s name.

A search warrant was executed at Butler’s home on March 27, and Butler reportedly said spontaneously that he wasn’t into “child pornography” but was into “furry porn.” He then reportedly became uncooperative and refused to answer any questions.

“Numerous” electronic devices were seized, one of which reportedly showed a search for “underage content” on November 27, about 15 minutes after the Microsoft Bingimage reverse search of the image reported in the CyberTip.

One of the devices reportedly contained 158 images of sexual activity between an animal and a human, and Butler has been charged with 12 counts of possession of images depicting sexual activities involving animals.

Butler has no criminal convictions; he was arrested on a domestic battery charge in 2022, but the charge was later dropped. Judge Meshon Rawls set bail at $60,000.

Articles about arrests are based on reports from law enforcement agencies. The charges listed are taken from the arrest report and/or court records and are only accusations. All suspects are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

  • How does that work? He had 158 images on one device, but has been charged with possession of 12 images….?

    • It’s a decision of the state attorney’s office. It’s the law of diminishing returns. After so many charges, there’s no additional punishment, depending on the law.

  • Nice job, idiots, Any porn involving underrated is CHILD porn. He got caught with child porn, not regular porn. Way to make a pervert look like he got arrested for regular porn, incompetent journalist.

  • This is not “furry porn”, it is beastiality. The “writers” at Alachua Chronicle stay ignorant.

  • Eddie d…….Read the article again. It’s not human porn. It furry animals. You made yourself look like an idiot.

  • It seems all of that toxic runoff from the nearby Koppers Superfund site has affected him.

  • People who abuse the powerless are especially despicable. This creepy pervert abuses children and animals I don’t know how any human being could sink much lower than that.

  • for clarity: furry porn is different from bestiality. “furry porn” usually refers to cartoon images of anthropomorphic animals (think bugs bunny, mickey mouse, etc) , while bestiality/”zoo porn” refers to photographs of real animals being sexually abused. both are freaky, yes, but furry porn is not illegal. it sounds like this guy said he was into furry porn as a way to cover his ass.

  • The title to this article is absurdly misleading. This man had diddy lust, doubt… but you really should’ve left the furry part out. It makes your article seem disingenuous and idiotic. Diddys and furries are two seperate things. Don’t try to clump them together, you’re sending a dangerous message to the public about a demographic of people that are mostly harmless. Probably coerced by your conservative bosses. Next time, be more professional.
