Gainesville man charged with trying to enter occupied apartment and occupied car
BY JENNIFER CABRERA
GAINESVILLE, Fla. – James Steven Peeler, 24, was arrested early this morning after police received a call about a suspicious person at a residence near Gainesville Place Apartments.
Gainesville Police Department officers reported that when they arrived, they found three women arguing with a man who was later identified as Peeler. One woman reported that Peeler had tried to get into a car outside the residence while she was in the passenger seat with the car running. The women said that Peeler then went to the front door of the residence and tried to open the door; when he could not open it, he allegedly went around to the back side of the house, entered a screened porch, and tried to open the back door of the residence.
The officer told Peeler not to leave while he collected statements from the women, but Peeler reportedly started to walk away. When the officer told him to stop, he reportedly began running. The officer reported that he chased Peeler and forced him to the ground, but Peeler continued to push off the ground and tried to roll over. Another officer had to assist in handcuffing him. Peeler also reportedly tried to prevent officers from searching him and had to be forced into the patrol vehicle after he refused to get in.
Peeler has no local adult criminal record, but he was cited on April 25 for driving 70 mph in a 35 mph zone, a charge that requires a mandatory court appearance. Court records show that he failed to appear at the June 15 hearing, and suspension of his driver’s license was initiated.
Articles about arrests are based on reports from law enforcement agencies. The charges listed are taken from the arrest report and/or court records and are only accusations. All suspects are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.Â

Cold Case Gainesville?
Being growd up at 24 is sooooo harrrrrd. Where’s his helicopter mommy?
That mommy would be Gangsville Shltty Commission I’d Fat Poe had his way as he publicly stated many times that all kids should have a gov place to go after school is out and during the summer, until 6 pm or so, a government nanny! Let the indoctrination begin! Gov nut jobs like Poe will stop at nothing reasonable or unreasonable to get a solid liberal slant into kids, while keeping them forever dependent on the gov- mint.
Poe should start a private safe space daycare for children of all ages. He could strut around in his blue apron, large and in charge.
This is a product of women having kids with different baby daddy’s and when they grow up they become part of the penal system our jails are full of young man like him and sad part of this is those moms be like i can’t wait till my baby come home or my baby comes home next year
