Gainesville man previously arrested for voyeurism in High Springs fitting room also charged with similar incident at Ross in Gainesville
Staff report
GAINESVILLE, Fla, – John David Mills, 42, who was arrested for video voyeurism in High Springs on Wednesday, has now been charged with a similar incident in October at Ross Dress for Less on NW 13th Street in Gainesville.
The victim told a Gainesville Police Department officer that at about 3:20 p.m. on October 14, she was in one of two changing rooms at Ross Dress for Less (2643 NW 13th Street) and scanned the room for spiders because she is afraid of them. She said she noticed a cell phone camera pointing at her from a hole that had been made in the cardboard separator running along the top of the metal dividing wall between the two fitting rooms.
She said she ran out of the fitting room and told her mother what happened; her mother immediately notified store employees.
Mills reportedly walked toward the front of the store, and the victim’s mother reportedly took several pictures of him; she said he got into a silver Infiniti and drove away, and she also took pictures of the car.
Detectives identified the suspect as Mills, and the victim and her mother positively identified him in a photo line-up; detectives also confirmed that a silver Infiniti is registered in his name.
On top of his previous charge of video voyeurism of a victim over 19 years old, Mills has now been charged with a second or subsequent offense of video voyeurism. He was convicted of recording video of an undressed minor in Virginia in 2018 and has been designated a Sexual Offender in Florida. Judge Kristine Van Vorst added $150,000 bail to his previous bail of $150,000.
Articles about arrests are based on reports from law enforcement agencies. The charges listed are taken from the arrest report and/or court records and are only accusations. All suspects are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.Â
That’s a rough 42
That girls dad needs to hunt this future serial rapist down and do what a good dad would do. You know he’ll be back at it as soon as the state attorney reduces or drops the charges.
This guy needs a better hobby. What a freak!
Newnan’s Lake facility must have a vacancy, or do lawyers still need to groom him for a future capital case?
Guy is a known sexual offender in Florida yet he is free to go about and victimize freely in Gainesville. I wonder how many women he has videotaped in the time he’s been here.
People like him should be locked up forever. They can’t be cured and, moreover, they don’t want to be.
