Gainesville man sentenced to 10 years in prison after pleading to child pornography charges

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Miko Jay Bryles, 30, has been sentenced to 10 years in state prison, followed by 10 years of sexual offender probation, after entering a plea of nolo contendere to eight child pornography charges.

Bryles was arrested on March 26, 2025 and charged with 52 felonies related to possession and distribution of child pornography after Alachua County Sheriff’s Office investigated three CyberTips regarding the uploading and distribution of child sexual abuse material. According to his arrest report, the files received in response to subpoenas included more than one image of sexual battery involving a child, a movie involving a child, and sadomasochistic abuse involving a child.

Eleven charges were filed formally: eight counts of possession of 10 or more images of child pornography and three counts of promoting a sexual performance by a child. Three counts of possession of 10 or more images of child pornography were dropped as part of the plea deal.

According to the plea document, the maximum sentence for the charges is 120 years in state prison.

Judge Susanne Wilson Bullard sentenced Bryles to 10 years in state prison, with credit for 398 days served, followed by 10 years of sexual offender probation; after release, he will be designated as a sexual offender.
