Gainesville woman arrested after allegedly crashing into two cars in ten minutes
Staff report
GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Erma Jean Mobley-Sams, 54, was arrested yesterday and charged with driving under the influence and resisting arrest after allegedly crashing into two cars in less than five minutes while intoxicated.
A Gainesville Police Department officer responded to the Winn Dixie on NW 23rd Avenue after a caller said Mobley-Sams had run into the front of his parked car. The car’s owner gave the officer the tag number of the car, and the officer determined that it was owned by Mobley-Sams.
An employee at the Subway in the same shopping center reportedly told the officer that Mobley-Sams had tried to come into the Subway but was so intoxicated that she was stumbling around and ran into the door.
Mobley-Sams reportedly left the scene of the accident before the officer arrived and drove east on NW 23rd Avenue; another call was received a few minutes later about a separate crash. The caller said their car was stopped at the intersection of NW 23rd Avenue and NW 2nd Street when Mobley-Sams turned too wide and drove into the front bumper of the caller’s car. The officer noted that the crash happened 3-5 minutes after Mobley-Sams left the scene of the first accident.
When the officer arrived at the site of the second crash, he reported that Mobley-Sams was sitting in the driver’s seat of her car and was the only occupant of the car.
The officer reportedly asked Mobley-Sams 10-15 times to get out of her car, but she allegedly refused and said, “Pull me out.” After several more refusals of commands to get out of the car, the officer pulled her out. Mobley-Sams also allegedly refused to complete field sobriety exercises.
The officer reported that he could smell alcohol coming from her person, and she appeared to be extremely intoxicated. Although she refused to acknowledge that she understood the Miranda warning, she reportedly talked extensively to the officer. At one point, she reportedly admitted that she had bought drinks while inside Winn Dixie and had been drinking in her car before driving. She reportedly refused to take a breath test.
The report does not provide any explanation for why there were no charges for property damage to the other cars.
Mobley-Sams has three misdemeanor convictions. Judge Tatum Davis set bail at $6,000.

Was she halfway thru a self-haircut while driving?
Judge Tatum…. I see 6k is a lot of money in Bradford county, but that is not much here in libville.
She’s one lucky, selfish and arrogant woman.
Put your snotty pride aside and realize that you could’ve killed someone.
Daring the police to touch your privileged stupid self.
Where was privilege?
Brother, Vincent Mobley, was arrested several months ago for DUI Hit & Run causing injury.
DANG THAT’S MESSED UP….. GOD DON’T LIKE UGLY
Impound her car until she pays for the damages and fines cause you knows she ain’t got no insurance either. If she won’t or can’t pay then auction off the car to cover the costs. Driving is a privilege and drunks don’t deserve to drive.
People never learn. Dont drink and drive, dont drink and cut your hair. Is Judge Davis competing with Judge Tommy on who can set the lowest jail?
