Gainesville woman arrested for allegedly stabbing boyfriend and dumping a pot of collard greens on his head

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Ieshia Chika Nakajsa Hawkins, 24, was arrested yesterday for allegedly stabbing her boyfriend, dragging him by the hair, and dumping a pot of collard greens on his head.

At about 7:28 p.m. on July 21, an Alachua County Sheriff’s Deputy responded to Majestic Oaks Apartments (5800 SW 20th Avenue) after Hawkins called 911 to report that her boyfriend had choked her.

The deputy reported that Hawkins’ boyfriend said he and Hawkins had gotten into an argument, and when he started gathering his belongings to leave, she threw a bag of his clothes into the oven, which was turned on, causing the clothes to “sear.” He said he took the bag out of the oven and continued packing, but Hawkins became more upset and stabbed him in the chest with a knife, causing a small puncture wound. He said she grabbed him by the hair and dragged him around the apartment, causing him to fear for his life, so he put her in a chokehold until she released him. He said that as he walked out of the apartment, Hawkins took a hot pot of collard greens from the stove and dumped it on him.

The deputy reported that the victim had a small puncture wound on his chest, welts on the back of his head from having his hair pulled, and a raised red mark on his neck, along with a dried yellow substance in his hair and dried collard greens on his chest. The deputy also reported that there was a pot just outside the apartment, with spilled greens around it.

The victim estimated the damage to his clothes at under $200.

Hawkins reportedly said the victim had pushed her first, leading to a physical fight in which she was slapped and choked; she reportedly did not mention grabbing the victim by his hair.

The deputy noted that Hawkins had no visible injuries that supported her allegations that she had been slapped or otherwise injured during the fight.

Post Miranda, Hawkins reportedly admitted to dragging the victim by his hair around the apartment and chasing the victim out of the apartment with the pot of hot collard greens and then dumping it on his head; she denied having a knife during the incident.

Deputies reportedly found a knife in the sink and a fork on the floor of the kitchen.

While Hawkins was being escorted to a patrol vehicle, she allegedly lunged at the victim and kicked him in the head; she also allegedly refused to get into the patrol vehicle and had to be forcibly placed inside. After the deputy closed the door of the patrol vehicle, Hawkins allegedly kicked the door, bending it about an inch from the frame and preventing it from closing properly. The damage to the patrol vehicle was estimated at $2,000.

Hawkins has been charged with aggravated battery with a deadly weapon, battery with a prior battery conviction, felony property damage, resisting an officer without violence, and misdemeanor property damage. She has juvenile convictions between 2014 and 2018 and one adult felony conviction (violent). Judge Susan Miller-Jones set bail at $220,000 and ordered her to maintain an alternate residence.
