Gainesville woman arrested for attacking ex-boyfriend and damaging his car

Staff report

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Alteria Leandrea Watson, 24, was arrested yesterday for allegedly pepper-spraying and punching her ex-boyfriend before causing over $5,000 in damage to his car.

A Gainesville Police Department officer reported that at about 2:18 a.m. on May 6, the victim, who had previously dated Watson, was sitting in his convertible with the top down at McDonald’s (1206 W. University Avenue), when Watson and a friend walked up to his car and the friend sprayed pepper spray in his face.

The victim drove away and parked on the north side of the Holiday Inn to put up the top on the convertible; Watson allegedly followed him in her vehicle and then ran up to his car and sprayed him with pepper spray while smashing the small rear passenger side window with a glass beer bottle. The officer reported finding the broken beer bottle at the location of that incident.

While the victim was disoriented from the pepper spray, Watson allegedly ran around to the driver’s side of the car and started punching the victim and screaming at him. She then allegedly kicked and broke the driver’s side mirror and then scratched the driver’s side door. As she walked away, she allegedly kicked the passenger side door, leaving a large dent.

The victim said that Watson and her friend drove away, and he didn’t know where they had gone, but he said Watson later came to his apartment and screamed at him from her vehicle, threatening to beat him up again.

Watson was arrested at her apartment complex on May 16.

Watson has been charged with burglary with battery, burglary of an occupied vehicle, felony property damage, and domestic battery. She has no local criminal history, and Judge Gloria Walker set bail at $25,000.

  • Productive members of society are hard to come by now a days. I guess we’ll just keep supporting them anyway….reluctantly.

  • You should have been in bed asleep, not with the top down @ 2am at a McDonald’s and then the holiday inn..

Sounds like you really pissed her off for some reason…what did you do to make her so mad?
