Gainesville woman arrested for threatening to shoot three people

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Angelique MonaĆ© Curtis, 24, was arrested last night for allegedly pointing a gun at three people while threatening to shoot them.
At about 8 p.m. on September 25, a Gainesville Police Department officer responded to Banyon Hammock Apartments, where Curtis’s boyfriend said he and Curtis had argued throughout the day.
At about 7:30 p.m., Curtis reportedly left a family member’s residence in a separate vehicle and went back to the apartment she shares with her boyfriend.
At about 8 p.m., her boyfriend arrived with a group of people and tried to enter the apartment, but Curtis reportedly blocked the door. Her boyfriend banged on the door, and a second person “donkey-kicked” the door, leaving dents.
Curtis allegedly came out of the apartment holding her boyfriend’s gun and brandished it at her boyfriend and the second victim, causing them to run down the stairs. Curtis allegedly aimed the gun downward from the top of the stairs, which caused a neighbor to fear that she would be shot because she was in the line of fire.
The neighbor said she saw the barrel of the firearm and heard Curtis say, “I will shoot you” and “If y’all come back and try to break in, I’ll shoot you.”
Curtis reportedly stated spontaneously to an officer that she said, “I will shoot you.”
Curtis has been charged with three counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. She was arrested in 2025 for joining two other women in attacking a female victim in the 1000 block of West University Avenue. In August 2026, she entered a plea of nolo contendere to simple battery; Judge Meshon Rawls withheld adjudication of guilt and fined her $753.
Judge George Wright ordered her held without bail on the new charges, pending a hearing on a motion from the State Attorneyās Office to hold her without bail until trial. However, on September 29, the motion was withdrawn, and on October 1, Judge Susanne Wilson Bullard set bail at $10,000; Curtis must be fitted with a GPS monitor, cannot return to Banyon Hammock Apartments, and must turn over any firearms to law enforcement before she is released.
Articles about arrests are based on reports from law enforcement agencies. The charges listed are taken from the arrest report and/or court records and are only accusations. All suspects are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

I’m beginning to see an obvious pattern with the mugshots. An consistent pattern that can’t be commented on here.
Something like, “If you break into my home, I will defend myself and my property,” would’ve been wholly justifiable in a court of law and wouldn’t have triggered an arrest.
Phrasing is so important in life. Alas, education is not prioritized in our blood red state, and for profit prison providers make bank off people’s poor choices.
