GPD arrests man with several active felony warrants

Trevis Strawder

Press release from Gainesville Police Department

On Tuesday, August 17, 2021, at approximately 10:07 a.m., the Gainesville Police Department (GPD) received a call in reference to an Armed Disturbance at Woodland Park Apartments (1900 SE 4th Street). The caller advised that a black male had a firearm and fled the apartment complex in a silver Toyota Camry.

GPD officers then located and attempted to stop the silver Toyota Camry. When officers attempted to conduct a felony stop, a suspect, later identified as Trevis Avante Strawder (DOB: February 18, 1994), fled from the vehicle with a black backpack slung around the front of his upper torso.

GPD officers and Alachua County Sheriff’s Office deputies then established a perimeter, which led to the apprehension of Strawder. The black backpack had two loaded semi-auto handguns and ten different types of controlled substances.

Strawder had several active felony warrants out of the Alachua County Sheriff’s Office.

GPD officers charged Strawder with Burglary of Occupied Dwelling, two counts of Possession of Firearm by Convicted Felon, Resisting without Violence, False Name to Law Enforcement, and several narcotics charges. Strawder was also charged with two counts of Attempted Robbery from an incident that occurred on August 16, 2021, at the Wyndham Garden Hotel (2900 SW 13th Street).

Strawder is currently being held at the Alachua County Department of the Jail on a bond of $1,632,500

  • Just another day…

    Just another crime…

    Just more drugs…

Just another felon attempting to flee…

Just more firearms in hands of a criminal…

Just another day in another liberal controlled community…

    Just keep on believing…

By the way, how’s that working out for you?

    Just keep on…said that already.

  • It seems like the level of crime may have actually gone up since they tore down the old ghetto Woodland Terrace public housing complex and built brand new luxury apartments there.

  • Q: Why was he out in the first place? And why was he found at a taxpayer-financed section 8 apt. complex? A: because that’s how Dem machines work in one party ruled cities.

  • How can anyone even identify a criminal if they
Do a crime with a mask on?…the defense? “It wasn’t me”,..
