GPD Sgt. Stemen piloted the drone and was able to locate the child behind a house. When the child saw the drone, he ran and attempted to hide in nearby bushes and the wood line. Sgt. Stemen continued to monitor his location from above and directed Alachua County Sheriff’s Office ground units to the area.

Thanks to the coordination between the GPD Drone Team and ASO deputies, the child was safely located and returned to his residence.

We’re proud of the work our officers do alongside our public safety partners to help keep our community safe. Great job, Sgt. Stemen!
