The initial investigation describes the vehicle as a possible BMW sedan. It was last seen traveling northbound on NW 20th Drive.
This is an ongoing investigation, and GPD asks anyone who has information about this incident to contact Officer Page at 352-393-7744 or pagedj@cityofgainesville.org.
Unfortunate that a young life was lost but to avoid such accidents from happening in the future, Wacko Saco better get working on that jaywalking ordinance. They should put half the effort into enforcement of current jaywalking laws they put into mask enforcement. Wouldn’t it be ironic if the person who was accidentally killed was taking advantage of the new open container ordinance the city just recently voted for.
As a result, Hayes-Santos will be looking to ban vehicles with 4 wheels and weighing more than 100 lbs from driving on University Ave after 8:00 p.m.
Vehicles, like firearms, don’t kill people. Dumb choices or careless idiots kill people.
