  • Until the “leaders” and States Attorney decide to get serious about crime in our town, this is never going to stop and will likely get worse until something horrendous happens to one of them or their families. Then maybe they will begin to care.

  • Demonrat mentality, more crime is typical when you don’t severely punish violent criminals. VOTE the demonrats out! Gainesville is turning into another California failed leadership.

    • Agree. The liberal mentality expressed from mayor po-boy on down is there are no criminals, just people who need counseling and another chance. This place has descended into a real Gangsville! As Gulliani showed in NYC, actually getting tough on criminals and being proactive, works! Mollycoddling doesn’t deter anyone! Throw out the democrats and their tax and spend mentality too!

      • Everything that happens in this WORLD isn’t about Republicans vs Democrats. DAMN you should be tired of beating a dead horse.

        • It’s about people with varying degrees of mental illnesses (at least half the city commission, locally) who don’t have any common sense as a result of those mental illnesses. Those of us with common sense can see that progressive-ism is just stupid and insane. But don’t try to tell that to the inbred-looking fat child-goons with their mental illnesses and lack of common sense (I know… words matter… boo hoo). Our “speshul” city commission actually inspired me to research the connection between a lack of common sense and mental illness. There is a big one, and it has been a topic of ongoing research lately, along with the usual accompanying distorted “Sense of Self.” Professor Poe is a classic example of this. I read social media helps to further distort people’s Sense of Self (even normal people), and that is another reason to avoid it; it’s making people more crazy.

    • 🤣🤣🤣🤣Lyn🤣🤣🤣demonrats-republican’ts🤣🤣🤣Independents👍👍👍

  • I wasn’t in NY or born in the early 70’s but I have heard the culture, lack of support and funding for LEO led to the rise of gangs and was the perfect storm for the Son of Sam. Something very bad is going to come out of Gainesville and I don’t mean a passerby like Rolling. I understand with the way the world views LEO today, it’s hard to hire decent ones but something has to give. Between LEO and teachers, they are our miracle workers, should be compensated as much and allowed to do their jobs.

    • As far as hiring police and other city employees, having a normal (decent/respectable/non-loony) mayor would go a long way toward that.

  • Let’s not jump to conclusions. With the upcoming elections, these people may be trying to qualify for a city council post.

  • You have to be tough on crime…I just came back from DC this weekend and saw vagrant bum tents set up all around our capital. Biden should have all the bum tents removed off the streets…it makes Biden look bad.
It makes our country look bad. Next thing you know, there will be bum tents set up around downtown and
Your neighborhood too if they don’t get tough on it.

    • They were there when trump was in office too. He didn’t have them removed.

  • If you use made up words like “demonrat” or “libtard” you’re part of a problem that’s almost as dangerous as gun violence. Look at Jan 6th. A person’s political stance shouldn’t be a form of a weapon. Whether or not the subject has anything to do with politics you people never pass on an opportunity to stir the proverbial pot. Your petty bickering over political parties becomes so counterproductive. Remember what the country was like before what’s his name was elected and it wasn’t as fashionable to be politically repulsive? Maybe if we had less of that to deal with we could actually do something about some of the real problems we have

    • I’m sad to say you’re addressing an audience largely impervious to reason.

    • If you had any common sense, you wouldn’t be cowering in fear over the use of words, made-up or not. Of course everybody remembers the country mostly sucked under Obama, and now it’s ten times worse. Got Iodine?

  • Nothing new under the sun. Gang violence is on the rise in G’ville. Question is, what will the new Chief do about it?
If I don’t miss my guess, he’ll do what his boss and former Chief did….can you guess what that was?
If all the programs and plans were implemented, why does G’ville still have a growing gang problem?
Lock your doors, stay home at night, and if you own a firearm be prepared to use it. You haven’t seen anything yet.

  • Unfortunately, it appears Gainesville and Alachua County are well on the way to becoming another Detroit and Chicago. Self-serving politicians play a major role in these declines. If law enforcement can’t enforce immigration laws (Alachua County is a sanctuary city) then perhaps we are seeing a preview of what’s coming.
