Hawthorne High’s Grace Huguley Earns Full Scholarship to Notre Dame

Press release from Alachua County Public Schools

From the Sunshine State to the Hoosier State, Hawthorne High’s Grace Huguley has earned a full scholarship to the University of Notre Dame after being awarded a spot in the QuestBridge National College Match program.

Lisa McLeod, assistant principal at HHS, said that Huguley deserves this opportunity.

“Grace is an outstanding example for our students at Hawthorne,” McLeod said. “She is hard-working, has been a straight-A student all through high school, and is highly respected among all of our students, middle and high school.”

Huguley has served as volleyball captain, a member of HOPE Squad, student body president, and the 2021-22 Homecoming queen. She’s earned straight As as a dual enrollment student while taking a full load of classes at Hawthorne and playing both varsity basketball and volleyball.

She is also a Take Stock mentee, a four-year member of the National Honor Society, and has participated in Santa Fe College’s Educational Talent Search.

“I am truly honored to be granted the opportunity to be a QuestBridge Scholar and a recipient of a four-year full-ride scholarship to the University of Notre Dame,” Huguley said. “Receiving this outstanding scholarship is proof that with hard work and dedication, you can achieve anything you put your mind to.”

Huguley recognizes that her support system has been key to her success.

“This accomplishment demonstrates that no matter where you come from, you can achieve greatness,” Huguley said. “I couldn’t have asked for a better community to support me every step of the way. At Hawthorne High School, everyone is like family and wants you to succeed. My family, teachers, and friends at Hawthorne supported me throughout the entire college application process.”

  • Congratulations Grace. Job well done. Good to hear of some good news from our young people.
