High Springs Emporium Rock Shop Grand Opening welcomes new owners on May 13

Press release from High Springs Emporium Rock Shop
HIGH SPRINGS, Fla. – Everyone is invited to meet Max and Helene Mpoyi, the new owners of the High Springs Emporium Rock Shop, at a grand opening celebration from 1-5 p.m. on Saturday, May 13, in the shop and on the grounds at 19765 NW U.S. Highway 441, High Springs. The shop is the yellow building across the street from the diner.
The event offers area residents and the Rock Shop’s customers an opportunity to give a warm Springs Heartland welcome to Max and Helene, who have been wholesale dealers at New York’s Malachite & Gems of Africa for many years. The Mpoyis are looking forward to moving to High Springs when their schedules permit. When they relocate, they want to find ways to become involved in the community.
The grand opening will include a ribbon-cutting ceremony by the High Springs Chamber of Commerce, music by the popular local band Quartermoon and the Sistar Drummers, and light refreshments. The event coincides with the Rock Shop’s popular annual Mother’s Day jewelry sale, with all jewelry discounted by 30 percent.
Guests may also enjoy walking the labyrinth that is dedicated to the health of the Floridan aquifer that feeds our springs and provides our drinking water. Made of chert and agatized coral from local waterways, the labyrinth is located in the pine grove behind the shop.
Sharron Britton, founder and former owner of the High Springs Emporium who ran the shop for over 20 years, sold the shop to the Mpoyis in February 2023. Although Britton has officially retired, she plans to return to the shop occasionally to teach classes and workshops. With new ownership came the addition of “Rock Shop” to the business name.
