High Springs man arrested for punching and kicking dog

HIGH SPRINGS, Fla. – Nicholas Matthew Alex, 46, was arrested yesterday for allegedly punching and kicking a dog.
At about 9:30 a.m. on August 25, a High Springs Police Department officer responded to the 23700 block of NW 184th Place, where a woman said she was driving down NW 237th Street when she saw a man repeatedly punching a dog; she said she told him to stop, and he became aggressive toward her.
The woman and another witness both said they saw the man repeatedly grab the dog by its leash and kick the dog forcefully.
Alex reportedly admitted that he had punched the dog in an effort to “remove the dog from the roadway.”
Alex has been charged with felony animal cruelty. He has eight felony convictions (non-violent) and five misdemeanor convictions (one violent). Judge Meshon Rawls ordered him released on his own recognizance with the condition that he cannot possess any animals.

The weight of his prior record must be contemplated in this case. In my opinion, after all the time, effort, and expense to arrest him, he is released and told not to own any animals. That’s pathetic and so predictable in a liberal community such as Gainesville. Do you really believe he is going to change?

Dang. That charge is rightfully the same as aggravated assault. Hell yeah!!
Only Cowards kick and punch a helpless animal to get their own aggressions out.
This fool needs to be introduced to the dog owners already in the jail.
