Update: Shoplifting suspect identified but whereabouts unknown

HIGH SPRINGS, Fla. – The High Springs Police Department has announced that through investigative efforts and assistance from the community, the suspect shown above has been identified as Eric James Chapman Jr. of Trenton, Florida.

Chapman has active felony warrants and has been officially charged with grand theft.

Anyone with information about his whereabouts is encouraged to contact their local law enforcement agency.

The High Springs Police Department is requesting assistance in identifying a shoplifting suspect from an incident that occurred today, January 22, at approximately 5:00 p.m. at Winn-Dixie in High Springs.

The suspect is described as a black male, approximately 6’1”-6’2”, with a slender or muscular build and a bald head, wearing a black jacket. He was accompanied by a white male, and they were seen leaving in a silver Honda CR-V.

When law enforcement attempted to confront the suspects, the men fled in the vehicle, heading toward Columbia County on U.S. Highway 27.
