Kissimmee man arrested for displaying gun after demanding money from business employee

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Joan Seltsikas, 51, of Kissimmee, was arrested yesterday after allegedly displaying a gun after the employee of a business refused to give him money.

On November 12, a Gainesville Police Department officer responded to Studio Skyn (1410 NW 13th Street), where an employee said Seltsikas came into the business and asked him for money. The victim said he told Seltsikas he didn’t have any money and told him to leave, but Seltsikas began yelling and pushed his way into the business. The victim said he again told him to leave, and Seltsikas pulled up his shirt to display a handgun in his waistband. The victim said he believed Seltsikas was going to shoot him for not giving him money, so he pulled the door closed and called 911.

Seltsikas reportedly left the business and was later seen in the CVS across the street. When he was arrested, a search reportedly produced a black-handled BB gun in his waistband.

According to the arrest report, Seltsikas has a Florida driver’s license and Social Security number but is a citizen of Cuba and was identified by his passport.

Seltsikas has been charged with aggravated assault with intent to commit a felony. He has no criminal history, and Judge Susan Miller-Jones set bail at $200,000 and ordered a mental health evaluation.
