Letter: The silent majority
Letter to the editor
America has a silent majority.
We see it campaigning across North Florida for independent congressional candidate Mike Klein. A West Point graduate and combat veteran, Klein is drawing support from Republicans, Democrats, and independents.
They are telling us the same thing: Give us something to vote for, not against.
The donor class has money. The silent majority has votes.
Vote for the best candidate, not a party. Elect enough independents, and neither party can take Congress for granted. Both sides have to listen, compromise, and earn support.
America demands democracy around the world while money buys access and power in Washington. That is plutocracy.
The silent majority can change that in the privacy of the voting booth.
Nobody needs to know how you vote.
Elect an independent. Restore trust in Congress.
Sonia Klein, Gainesville
Campaign Director, Mike Klein for Congress

Iโm all for electing independents but I donโt think we need to remain silent about the pure corruption of both parties. I think silence is tacit acceptance and being outspoken is a great way to bring awareness to others.
Be an independent voter but donโt mute yourself!
Time is precious. I believe republican turnout in Alachua county is low because republicans make up only 26% of voters. Why waste time knowing even if 100% of republicans turned out to vote republicans would still lose, assuming roughly a 50% turnout by democrats who make up 46% of voters. I am referring to local elections only.
