LifeSouth Celebrates Heroes – $20 e-gift Card to All Donors Oct. 7 – Oct. 11

The national blood shortage and the need for blood donors, especially type O, continues, and donors are invited to celebrate National Hero Days by stopping by a LifeSouth location or blood drive. October 7 through October 11, all blood donors receive a $20 e-gift card redeemable at many retailers and restaurants.

LifeSouth urges the community to be a hero by donating blood. LifeSouth donors help patients suffering from blood loss due to trauma, cancer patients needing platelets to heal after chemotherapy, sickle cell patients whose only relief from severely painful symptoms comes from a blood transfusion, and newborn babies requiring closely matched units of blood to survive. 

It is a great time to become a blood donor, or for regular blood donors to donate and bring a friend. Donors also receive a mini-physical, including blood pressure, temperature, iron level, and cholesterol screen. 

LifeSouth is the primary provider of blood to all the hospitals in Gainesville and the surrounding communities. 

Visit a LifeSouth donor center or bloodmobile. To find a location near you visit lifesouth.org or call 888-795-2707. Donors must be at least 17 years old, or 16 with parental permission, weigh a minimum of 110 pounds, and be in good health. A photo I.D. is required.
