Man arrested for pointing a gun at woman

BY JENNIFER CABRERA

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Evan Graham Gilman, 19, was arrested early Saturday morning and charged with aggravated assault after allegedly pointing a gun at a woman.

At about 1:45 a.m. on Dec. 3, Gilman was reportedly engaged in a verbal argument with a woman when he went to his car, took out a gun, and allegedly pointed it at the victim as she walked to her own car. The victim reported that she was in fear for her life.

A witness told Gainesville Police Department Officers that he saw Gilman point a gun at the victim and immediately punched him with a closed fist. Gilman then fell to the ground and was pinned down by the witness until police arrived.

Officers reportedly found a bolt-action rifle near where the incident took place.

Gilman, whose address is listed as Jacksonville, has no local criminal history. Bail information is unavailable on weekends.

Articles about arrests are based on reports from law enforcement agencies. The charges listed are taken from the arrest report and/or court records and are only accusations. All suspects are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

  • Hollywood violence is to blame, not the NRA or the GOP. It’s Dem Hollyweird that’s been using guns to “solve problems” for a hundred years of movies going back to silent film days. And now TV and video games.
This kid should sue Hollywood for making him do illegal acts commonly used in entertainment to solve problems.

    • How did the argument start? As far as racial dynamics, Jacksonville is more like Alabama than Detroit or Minneapolis or whatever ‘blue’ city we’re like. At this point, we don’t even know where it happened, let alone the race of the woman.
