Man arrested for stealing jerseys worth over $2,000 from campus bookstore

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Travis William Pavlovski, 40, was arrested yesterday for allegedly stealing 15 jerseys, worth about $2,000, from the University of Florida Bookstore.

At about 4:50 p.m. on August 27, Pavlovski was reportedly seen leaving a fitting room with 15 jerseys in his arms, still on hangers. The jerseys were in different sizes — small, medium, and large — and each one cost $130-$140. The total cost of the items was about $2,000.

Pavlovski allegedly walked past all points of sale, left the bookstore, and walked eastbound on Museum Road. When he looked back and saw a bookstore employee making a phone call, he reportedly turned around and asked the employee where the “lost and found” was. After he was told that there was no “lost and found,” Pavlovski reportedly dropped the items on the welcome desk.

Pavlovski was previously issued a trespass warning on August 26 for campus properties, so he was charged with grand theft and trespassing after a warning.

Pavlovski reportedly admitted to walking past all points of sale and said he had no way to pay for the jerseys. He asked to be admitted into a drug treatment program.

Pavlovski has eight felony convictions (one violent) and 20 misdemeanor convictions (non-violent) and has served two state prison sentences, with his most recent release in 2014. Judge Meshon Rawls set bail at $22,000 but did not order Court Services to screen him for Drug Court.
