Man on pre-trial release with 60 convictions arrested for fleeing a traffic stop
Staff report
GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Glen Thaddeus Green, 58, was arrested this week for allegedly fleeing a traffic stop and possession of crack cocaine.
At about 12:01 a.m. on September 28, a Gainesville Police Department officer attempted to conduct a traffic stop on Green, who was allegedly riding a bike with no lights in the 1900 block of NE 8th Avenue. Green allegedly refused to stop and asked, “Why are y’all stopping me?”
Officers followed Green until he fell off his bicycle and detained him in handcuffs. Green reportedly held his hands in his waistband, out of view, while he was lying face down and allegedly refused to comply with multiple orders to remove his hands from his waistband; the officers reported that they had to forcibly remove his hands from his waistband.
Green reportedly yelled, “I have a lot of crack on me.”
A search incident to arrest reportedly produced about 3.3 grams of crack cocaine, a crack pipe, and a piece of a Brillo pad.
Post Miranda, Green reportedly said he had run from the officers because he had just smoked crack and had crack cocaine and a crack pipe in his backpack.
Green has been charged with possession of a controlled substance, fleeing from law enforcement, possession of drug equipment, and resisting an officer without violence. He has 17 felony convictions (non-violent) and 43 misdemeanor convictions (two violent), and he has served six state prison sentences, with his most recent release in August 2025.
Green was arrested in April for allegedly stealing his housemate’s mattress and box spring; a few days after that arrest, he was sentenced to six months in jail for resisting an officer without violence on New Year’s Eve; he posted bail in the April case when the sentence was complete and was released on September 11.
Judge George Wright set bail at $15,000. Although standard release conditions include abiding by the law, Green has not yet been charged with violating his release conditions in the April case.
Articles about arrests are based on reports from law enforcement agencies. The charges listed are taken from the arrest report and/or court records and are only accusations. All suspects are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

It’s time to keep this POS in prison. He has proved he don’t belong in society even sitting down to Venezuela. They got a real nice prison down there.
Criminals gonna crim…. like a duck quacks, like a deer jumps in front of oncoming traffic, like a bird flies. Criminal behavior from ciminals is predictable and expected. Just the norm..
Only 60 convictions. Give him a 61st chance. Surely he can turn his life around.
After 60 convictions, this guy is probably on a first name basis with every Judge in town.
