Man on probation arrested for threatening to shoot juvenile

Staff report

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Davron Darelle Keith, 22, was arrested yesterday for allegedly threatening to shoot a juvenile and battering a woman.

At about 7 p.m. on September 26, Alachua County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to a residence in Hidden Oaks Mobile Home Park, where the female victim said she had been arguing with Keith because she would not give him money for drugs; she said Keith put his hand inside her mouth and grabbed her jaw.

At that point, the juvenile male victim came out of his room to defend the female victim and “got into a scuffle” with Keith; after breaking free from the scuffle, Keith allegedly told the female victim, “imma shoot your son,” went to his room, and grabbed a blue bag.

While reaching into the bag, Keith allegedly said he had a gun; the juvenile victim left the room, and the female victim called 911. Keith reportedly left the residence before deputies arrived.

The female victim said she never saw a gun, but she believed Keith had one because of his statements and gestures; she said that although she has never seen Keith with a gun, Keith has made comments in the past about having a gun in the blue bag.

The deputy reported that the female victim had a small cut on her face, a small cut inside her lip, and blood on her right shoulder.

The juvenile victim reportedly said he heard Keith arguing with the female victim and heard the female victim say, “Get your hands off of me.” He said he saw Keith standing over the victim, but he did not see Keith hit the female victim. He said he hit Keith to get him away from the female victim, and when Keith broke free, Keith said, “finna shoot jit,” which the juvenile victim assumed was directed at him. He said Keith went into a room, came out with a bag, and reached into it as if he had a gun. The juvenile victim said he never saw a gun, but he believed Keith had one because of his statements and gestures.

Both the female victim and juvenile victim said Keith had cut himself earlier in the day.

At about 9:40 p.m., deputies learned that Keith had returned to the residence. They established a perimeter while Keith was outside the house, and when they told him to get on the ground, he allegedly ran; he was arrested after a short foot chase. Keith allegedly continued trying to pull away from deputies and was reaching for his waist, so deputies tased him.

Post Miranda, Keith reportedly said the female victim had cut him earlier in the day, but he did not call 911 because he did not want anyone to get in trouble. He reportedly admitted to pushing the female victim and said he grabbed the juvenile victim after the juvenile victim hit him. He said that at that point, both the female victim and juvenile victim came after him, and the female victim had a knife.

Keith said he pretended he had a gun in the blue bag, but he did not have a gun and never threatened to shoot anyone. He said he ran from deputies because he “did not want to go back to jail.”

The blue bag was reportedly found at a nearby property, but it did not contain any weapons, and no firearm was found during the incident.

Keith has been charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon against the juvenile victim, domestic battery against the female victim, and resisting an officer without violence. He has a juvenile conviction, two adult felony convictions, and one adult misdemeanor conviction; he is on probation for aggravated stalking and possession of a firearm by an adjudicated delinquent under the age of 24. He was ordered to forfeit his firearm in November 2025 after entering a plea of nolo contendere to the firearm possession charge.

Judge George Wright ordered him held without bail pending a hearing on a motion from the State Attorney’s Office to hold him without bail until trial; if the judge denies the motion, bail will be set at that hearing.
