Man on probation arrested for threatening to shoot man who owed him money

Staff report

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Dudley Lamont Mackey, 43, was arrested yesterday for allegedly threatening to shoot a man he said owed him money.

At about 10:30 a.m. on September 4, an Alachua County Sheriff’s Deputy responded to a call about an armed disturbance in the Southern Pines area (4200 block of SW 20th Avenue), where the victim said Mackey was driving by when he stopped his vehicle, got out, and asked him for money he said the victim owed him.

The victim said Mackey pulled out an altered handgun with a possible “switch” on it and started waving it in the air, making threats to shoot the victim.

He has seven felony convictions (one violent) and 16 misdemeanor convictions (two violent); he has served one state prison sentence and was released in 2002. He is on probation for a third or subsequent violation of driving without a valid license. Judge Sheree Lancaster set bail at $50,000.
