Mexican national arrested for carrying a concealed firearm, tampering with evidence

Staff report

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Angel Gabriel Perez-Hernandez, 26, was arrested early this morning and charged with carrying a concealed firearm, using a firearm under the influence of alcohol, and tampering with evidence after allegedly pointing a handgun at another person.

A Gainesville Police Department officer responded to a call about an armed disturbance in the 2100 block of NW 55th Boulevard at about 12:30 a.m. this morning and reportedly saw Perez-Hernandez with a handgun sticking out of his waistband. The officer reported that he saw Perez-Hernandez walk away from him, discreetly pull out the gun, and hand it to another person who moved it out of the officer’s sight; the gun was reportedly found later on the hood of a nearby truck.

The officer reported that Perez-Hernandez, who was born in Mexico and identified with a fingerprint scan, is not a citizen or permanent resident of the U.S. and is ineligible to carry a concealed firearm; Perez-Hernandez was also reportedly under the influence of alcohol.

Although the original caller reported that Perez-Hernandez was pointing a gun at somebody, that person declined to press charges.

Perez-Hernandez has no local criminal history. Bail information is unavailable on weekends.

Articles about arrests are based on reports from law enforcement agencies. The charges listed are taken from the arrest report and/or court records and are only accusations. All suspects are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

  • Another example of young men fleeing countries to escape being arrested or killed for doing such things we gladly accept here. Just so we can feed our poor starving lawyers and insurance companies.

  • Another Mexican who is not a citizen carrying a concealed firearm in our country. Now reverse the situation an American citizen in Mexico carrying a concealed weapon what would happen to them? Uncle Joe keeps letting this idiots remain in our country without any concern of background. I wonder if he has a history in Mexico?

    • You let America get caught in Mexico with a gun be looking at 20 years of hard labor

      • I wonder if all of those people crying about the government giving them handouts would leave if they don’t? Much rather see those people get a one way ticket to another country and make an attempt at getting free stuff there.
We might be able to decrease the national debt.

      • Unlike some people I love this state and this Country. I would defend it till the end. We should not let illegal roam the country without proper vetting. All the Demoncrats are going us setting this country up for an invasion.

  • Another illegal alien criminal, thanks Joe! Thanks city commission for putting out the welcome mat! 😫

  • I hope this illegal alien is turned over to immigration. FL is not (supposedly) a sanctuary or “welcoming” state for criminals. That includes the crime of entering the US illegally.

    • Unfortunately, The People’s Republic of Gainesburg IS a ‘Welcoming City’…..”Commissioners call Gainesville a “welcoming city” and not a so-called “sanctuary city,” though the distinction is unclear.”

  • ‘In Mexico possession of weapons is restricted for use by the army and is a federal crime…..’ From what I hear, this everyone in Mexico obeys the law. 🙂

  • Illegal immigrant… not “Mexican National.” There, I fixed it. You’re welcome.
