Pair arrested for attacking woman and resisting deputies with violence

Staff report

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Talyia Alana Crawford, 19, and Trinity Zyana Crawford, 22, were arrested last night and charged with battery and resisting an officer with violence after deputies responding to a fight in the Holly Heights area reported that both women physically attacked them.

At about 8:21 p.m. on March 5, deputies responded to an apartment building in Holly Heights, where the victim was picking up her child when Talyia, Trinity, and others allegedly physically attacked her. Talyia allegedly pushed and hit the victim, and Trinity allegedly pushed the victim and hit her on the head.

When deputies arrived, they reported that the attackers “were still in an elevated state” and that Talyia and Trinity walked up to the victim again, screaming at her and threatening her. Two deputies reportedly stepped in to separate Talyia and Trinity from the victim.

One deputy reported that Talyia shoved him and attempted to fight him. As he attempted to restrain her, she allegedly grabbed his uniform and started punching him; he reported that he tripped her to the ground and placed her under arrest.

A second deputy reported that when she tried to place Trinity in the back of her patrol vehicle, Trinity pushed her four times with both hands, trying to get away. As the deputy tried to restrain Trinity, Trinity allegedly elbowed her. A third officer reportedly helped subdue Trinity.

Post Miranda, Talyia did not want to answer questions at first but later said she was “just fighting because everyone else was fighting.”

Talyia has been charged with battery and resisting an officer with violence. She has no criminal history, and Judge Adam Lee set bail at $5,000.

Post Miranda, Trinity did not want to answer questions.

Trinity has been charged with battery and resisting an officer with violence. She has a juvenile conviction but no adult convictions. Judge Lee set bail at $6,000 and ordered the pair to have no contact with each other or with the victim.

  • Just imagine what our police officers have to go through on a daily basis dealing with this culture who were never taught how to behave.

    • I agree. It shows a lack of support, and I imagine it could be a moral crusher if they saw the lack of support they receive on the back end. They (officers) would be doing themselves a favor by not paying attention to anything after the arrest—do their job and go on to the next one.

  • crime in the heart of Springs County. When is Lil Timmy gonna take over and do something about it?

    • Utopia: this melee was in GNV Alachua county… springs county is a utopia where there is no crime or vagrants or panhandling and cheap utilities…springs county will have a nice jailhouse and just visiting space for vagrants & panhandlers until they’re sent back to where they came from.

  • Why does she have that jewelry nose ring?

That should be removed for the mugshot and given back when she’s leaving the jail with the rest of her stuff…

  • Yeah, there are little to no repercussions—a $5000 bail, a slap on the wrist, and street cred. I need to reconsider my principles! Nah, I’ll save the brawling for defense (at best) and continue to apply Neosporin to my head where I’ve scratched a dry spot from bewilderment.

  • Yalls don’t get it. The girls just doing what they do. Perhaps yalls need to move to the hood and deal with trying to get a dope med card. Try it. Deal with it.

  • She look like a “fighting cause everyone was fighting” type person. Now your a “no contact with my sister” type of person 😒
