Pair arrested for trying to steal bicycles at Infinity Hall

Staff report
GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Adarrius Quanya Clements, 29, and Kashaun Kip Kearney, 29, were arrested on February 27 for allegedly trying to steal bicycles from Infinity Hall; Clements was on pre-trial release following his January arrest for stealing a scooter.
At about 2:06 p.m. on February 27, the building manager of Infinity Hall (978 SW 2nd Avenue) reportedly saw the two men inside the locked bicycle room of the building. The manager told the responding Gainesville Police Department officer that he heard a loud banging sound coming from the room, and when he walked in, he saw Clements trying to smash bicycle locks with a hammer. He said that when he confronted Clements, Kearney appeared behind a nearby wall; he said Kearney appeared to be acting as a look-out while Clements tried to break the locks. The pair reportedly fled after being confronted by the building manager.
A short time later, a GPD officer saw Kearney in the 900 block of NW 4th Place, riding an e-bike that appeared to be stolen: the make and model were reportedly covered with duct tape, and the serial numbers were covered with spray paint. The officer noted that at the time of the report, he had been unable to determine whether the e-bike was stolen.
A search incident to arrest reportedly produced a small baggie containing 10.1 grams of marijuana in Kearney’s front hoodie pocket, along with a hammer, two sets of garden shears, and a wire cutter.
Clements was reportedly found in the 600 block of NW 10th Street; he had reportedly discarded the backpack and hooded jacket he was wearing when the building manager confronted him.
The building manager positively identified both as the men he had confronted.
Post Miranda, Clements reportedly denied being involved in the incident.
Post Miranda, Kearney reportedly admitted he had been at Infinity Hall, identified Clements by name, said he’d followed Clements into the bicycle room and heard him using the hammer to damage locks, and said Clements had given him the e-bike he was riding at the time of his arrest.
Clements has been charged with burglary and possession of burglary tools. He has 11 felony convictions (six violent) and three misdemeanor convictions (none violent); he has served four state prison sentences, with his most recent release in October 2024. He was arrested on January 7, 2025, for stealing a scooter and released on $10,000 bail. Judge Meshon Rawls set bail at $25,000 on the new charges, and he is still in the Alachua County Jail.
Kearney has been charged with burglary, possession of burglary tools, and possession of less than 20 grams of marijuana. He has juvenile convictions between 2007 and 2014, three adult felony convictions (none violent), and six adult misdemeanor convictions (none violent); he has served one state prison sentence and was released in 2016. Judge Meshon Rawls set bail at $9,000, and he has been released.
Articles about arrests are based on reports from law enforcement agencies. The charges listed are taken from the arrest report and/or court records and are only accusations. All suspects are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
Both almost 30 years old and still resorting to thievery- gotta be proud…
Both plenty able-bodied enough to work!
Kearney will be right back to thievery, thanks to judge Rawls striking again
She has a habit of low-bailing certain groups.
Want to keep them from stealing? Cut their hands off. Guarantee they’ll never steal again. That’s what they need.
What era, and what country do you live in? Cut off his hands?
That’s your solution?
What is your solution, N T ?
In some countries and around Jesus’ time, they would be
“Stoned”…pun intended. Maybe we bring back stoning or the rack to those who break the law.
I bet you meant bring back the pillory. A pillory is thing that holds your head and arms and put them in front of the court house for people to see. That will cure them from stealing.
Not, they will then use their mouth to steal.
don’t you get it? Low bails is job security for her
A fine pair of citizens, stealing bikes from tenants. Get a damn job.
Why would a person who has 11 felony convictions be released on $10K bail?
Judge Meshon Rawls.
This judge clearly does not represent the citizens of her district
Wait…. you mean that one of the defendants initials is KKK? The jokes will write themselves.
More alachua county dopeheads. Most AC readers want the stuff
Student victims will take their side like the Boston mayor anyway, due to “systemic racism” preventing them from getting jobs in a college town.
ACLUSPLCDNC 👹🤡👿💩👺
Please, will a Kind Person here Gently explain to me why ACTY. sets bails SO LOW ?
For Repeat Offenders & Violent Crimes.
Yet, IMHO Innocent Political Prisoners in FL are given High Bail & Lengthy Sentences.
What is going on ?
Please, Who can speak some Common Sense to the ACTY. Judges ?
Thank you.
